The 45th Satellite of the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System has Completed the In-orbit Test

The 45th satellite of the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS-2 GEO satellite) has completed the in-orbit test and been commissioned around March 31, 2020, succeeding the third satellite of BDS and providing services using PRN1. This satellite succession will help improve the robustness of BDS-2 operation and support the smooth transition from BDS-2 to BDS-3. The third satellite was taken over and placed in orbit for maintenance. Both satellites were developed by China Academy of Space Technology, and the third and 45th satellites were launched at Xichang Satellite Launch Center on January 17, 2010 and May 17, 2019 respectively.
